Gila Bend area families now have an easy, one-stop connection to human and social services resources at the Care1st Gila Bend Resource Center.  The Center was created through a partnership between First Things First, Care1st Health Plan Arizona and the Town of Gila Bend.

After a complete renovation, the Care1st Gila Bend Resource Center building opened in September of 2011.  The facility is located at 303 E. Pima St.   The Family Resource Center is modeled after the Care1st Avondale Resource and Housing Center, which recently won a Best of the West 2010 award from WESTMARC.   Services and programs offered at that one-stop resource center, which is also partly supported by Care1st Health Plan Arizona and the First Things First Southwest Maricopa Regional Council include adult basic education (GED and ESL classes), Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (food stamp) application assistance and AHCCCS application assistance services, job counseling, parenting education classes, emergency infant and toddler food boxes and many others. Gila Bend Community Action ProgramComm. Center

Our mission is to improve lives and strengthen our community, ultimately helping individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency and become self-supporting.

The Gila Bend Community Action Program (CAP) assists the citizens of Gila Bend to help them live their lives better; one child, one senior citizen, one person at a time. Our program services are designed to help low-income people triumph over poverty, achieve self-sufficiency and shape strong futures for themselves, their families and their communities.

A holistic approach is taken as we focus on Case Management.  We utilize a wide variety of tools to help our clients achieve their goals from direct emergency financial assistance to, for example, weatherizing their home.  Short-term emergency services such as emergency food boxes and referrals to food stamps and unemployment benefits are provided along with long-term solutions such as referrals to job training and employment or disability referrals for those that are unable to work. Transportation assistance is provided to link our clients with employment, health care, and other social service needs.

Gila Bend Senior CenterSeniorCenter

The Gila Bend Senior Center is a great place to be for those who are age sixty or older and their spouse...
