The Community Development Services Department directs the Planning Department, Economic Development Department (including the Gila Bend Airport), Engineering, and the Building Safety Department. Some responsibilities are:

• Short-Term Planning - Reviews and approves all entitlement plans (zoning, site plans, pre-plats, final plats, general plan amendments (minor and major), subdivisions, minor land divisions, master plan developments, addressing, ROW’s, Planning Commission and Council staff reports, etc.)

• Long-Term Planning (General Plan Updates, Annexations, Census, Zoning Maps, Planning Districts, Design Guidelines, Sign Codes, etc.)

• Building Safety (new buildings, tenant improvements, residential improvements, industrial improvements, pools, spas, etc.)

• Historic Preservation – works with the Historic Preservation Commission

• Land Use Law and Code Enforcement – Compliance and Regulation

• Airport and Industrial Park Development
