Our Council meetings, are held every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, at Town Hall, beginning at 6:00 pm. We operate on a philosophy of open and transparent government and welcome public input. Our website is a work in progress, so please check back frequently for updates.
Urban Land Institute and the Town of Gila Bend Team Up with AzTAP Future Planning Process
The AzTAP process was initiated in the fall of 2012 with a meeting between ULI Arizona and Town officials to discuss the process and potential outcomes. Dialogue continued in the spring of 2013 and culminated with an on-site, day-long gathering of the AzTAP Panel and Town participants on May 14, 2013. The Town of Gila Bend Launches the Solar Express
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Town of Gila Bend is pleased to announce the launching of the Town’s new local transit service, called the Solar Express. Service begins on September 2, 2013 and will initially run twice per day on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The SolarExpress is operated through a continued partnership with the Town of Gila Bend, First Things First, and Care1st of Arizona, and is intended to assist persons with transportation to local businesses and services in our community. Some destinations include Care1st Resource Center, Adelante Health Clinic, Gila Bend Community Center and Library, Town Hall, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Loves, San Lucy District Office, etc.
Fares are $1.00 for adults, $0.50 for children, $0.75 for seniors and $0.75 for handicap riders. First Things First and Care 1st will be providing some fare vouchers (“free ride” tickets) which may be requested at the Care1st Resource Center.
“As part of our continued commitment to providing quality projects and services to the Gila Bend community, and as part of our FY13/14 work plan, we are excited to launch the SolarExpress. We know that transportation options are limited for some of our citizens, and we are excited to provide this transportation alternative, creating greater access to our local businesses and services. We anticipate making adjustments to the service based on feedback from riders, so please let us know what you think,” said Rick Buss, Town Manager.

4th Solar Power Plant for Gila Bend Announced
PHOENIX – Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) has selected Black & Veatch to design and build a new solar photovoltaic facility – the 32-megawatt Gila Bend Solar Power Plant, part of the APS AZ Sun Program.
Construction will begin in October 2013 with project completion expected in June 2014. The nine-month project will bring more than 150 jobs to Arizona.
PHOENIX (March 13, 2012) - The Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), and the Town of Gila Bend today announced Calgon Carbon Corporation will construct a new water treatment carbon reactivation plant in Gila Bend, AZ. This will initially bring 25 high-quality jobs to the state, with the potential to increase to 62 new jobs over a three year period, and represents a multi-million dollar investment in the state.

3rd Solar Power Plant for Gila Bend Announced
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For the first time, Arizona’s largest electric utility — Arizona Public Service Company — and Arizona’s largest solar manufacturer — First Solar — are working together to harness the power of the sun. APS has contracted with First Solar to design and build the Paloma Solar Plant, a 17-megawatt photovoltaic facility in Gila Bend, Ariz. APS will own the plant, which is expected to come online in September 2011.
